Looking Back with Gratitude

“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:18

Reflection:

Gratitude is not just for the easy seasons, it’s also for the hard ones. There are times in life when trials make us want to run away, when the weight of disappointment or pain feels unbearable. Yet even in those moments, we are reminded to take heart: our hope is not in circumstances but in God’s unfailing promises.

The Bible says, “For the righteous falls seven times and rises again” (Proverbs 24:16). Falling is part of the journey, but standing again is the testimony of God’s strength in us. Think of the parent who faced financial struggles yet saw God provide daily bread, or the believer who walked through grief but found comfort in Christ’s presence. These moments remind us that gratitude is not denial of pain, it is recognition of God’s faithfulness through it.

As you look back on 2025, acknowledge the trials that tested you, but also remember the hope that carried you. Gratitude transforms even the hardest seasons into testimonies of resilience and grace.

Prayer:

Lord, thank You for being my strength in every trial. Even when I fall, You lift me up. Teach me to carry gratitude not only for the blessings but also for the battles, knowing that You are my hope. Amen.
