Refresh for the Journey.

Subtitle: United in His delightful presence, we become living springs of encouragement.

Bible Verse

Proverbs 25:25 (NIV)

“Like cold water to a weary soul is good news from a distant land.”

Devotional Reflection

Ever felt worn out by life’s demands—emotionally thirsty, longing for relief? That’s exactly the picture Solomon paints: cold water poured over parched lips. Good news from far away revives us in the same way.

When we gather under our July theme, United in His Delightful Presence, we tap into the ultimate spring—Jesus Himself, the Living Water. But He also uses us as His messengers. A timely word of hope, a prayer text in the afternoon slump, a surprise note of gratitude—they all refresh weary hearts and draw us deeper into community.

God delights when His children carry His life-giving news to one another. Each act of encouragement is a droplet of His presence, hydrating souls and forging unity. Our collective joy swells as we practice being good news in a thirsty world.

Application

1. Send a Refreshing Message: Text or DM someone who seems tired—share a scripture or memory that uplifts them.

2. Share Your Story: At your next gathering (virtual or in person), briefly tell how God recently refreshed your soul.

3. Create a Hydration Station: Leave encouraging notes or small treats (water bottles, snacks) in common areas for friends or coworkers.

4. Pray on the Move: When you feel weary, pause and pray for someone you know—even a one-sentence prayer brings living water both to you and to them.

5. Worship with Water: In your next worship time, play or sing songs about living water (e.g., “Healer” by Kari Jobe) and imagine God refreshing each heart present.

Prayer

Father, You are the Living Water who satisfies every thirst. Thank You for pouring out life through good news and heartfelt kindness. Teach us to notice the weary around us, to carry Your refreshing presence in our words and deeds, and to unite as one body under Your delight. May every drop of encouragement we give point others back to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
