Serve and Honor

Subtitle: Selfless Love in Marriage

Scripture:

“Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.” — Ephesians 5:21 (NIV)

Reflection

True greatness in marriage isn’t measured by power or prestige, but by service and respect. When Christ leads us to lay down our rights for another, we mirror His humility. Serving one another, washing dishes, listening without interrupting, honoring dreams, becomes a sacred act. Respect thrives where service flows freely.

🛠️ Application

• Ask your spouse, “How can I serve you today?” and follow through.

• Practice one act of honor: verbal affirmation, thoughtful gift, or backing their decision.

• Reflect on Philippians 2:3–4 and identify attitudes you need to swap for humility.

Prayer

Holy Spirit, cultivate a servant’s heart within me.

Help me lay aside pride and choose honor, seeking my spouse’s good above my own.

Teach me daily what it means to submit out of love, for Your glory and our joy.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
